Broadcast Services Australia Limited (BSA) is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and has positioned itself as Australia’s pre-eminent domestic satellite and free to air installation company.
BSA Limited has two core divisions focused on the broadcast industry, Contracting Solutions supplying volume contracting at domestic locations and Transmission Solutions offering equipment & related services to the broadcasting industry.
As two companies who had merged together (Comet and BSA), BSA operated two independent financial systems for over two years before assessing the most suitable product to support the new collective entity. Greentree had been one of the contenders during this time and following a six month evaluation process was selected as the solution to carry the business into the future.

“We had two major considerations at the time,” Ian McGregor, BSA’s CFO recalls. “Our contracting side of the business ran on an online real time system which interfaced with the old accounting system to provide timely finance information while our transmissions solutions side was using the Greentree project costing system which was integral to their business processes. We needed to identify how two businesses could be integrated on to the one system with minimal disruption and down time.
BSA had also grown to understand the Greentree product and recognised that our existing installation was not maximising the full financial suite available. This also highlighted the need for us to completely review both the product and our own internal business processes. It was at this time our existing partnership with MSTA became integral to the success of the project.

MSTA needed to plan and work with BSA to produce a business solution with all functionality becoming totally integrated.
MSTA worked with BSA to identify how the two businesses could be successfully integrated into one. BSA needed to fully review processes and rebuild systems as well as ensure a team of over 25 users throughout finance, operational and administrative areas of the business were trained and understood the product.
MSTA’s implementation services were utilised to rollout each of the interfaces required with as little disruption to daily operations as possible.

From common desktop tools for reporting, transaction entry and document management, MSTA’s implementation services were utilised to deliver the interfaces required with little disruption to daily operations.
Throughout this process MSTA and BSA also had an opportunity to innovate and as a result partnered with Greentree to become the first customer to develop a payroll system that also fully interfaces with an existing job costing system.

We have successfully completed phases one and two and are now working in phase three to improve our reporting and daily functionality even further.
